Issue:
You receive the following error when selecting Help and Support from the Start Menu
Windows cannot open Help and Support because a system service is not running
To fix this problem, start the service named “Help and Support”
Cause:
When you attempt to locate the “Help and Support” service you can not find it. This is because the service was not installed or as removed.
Solution:
To install the Help and Support Service do the following
1) Open a command prompt and type the following commands.
a. Cd /D %SystemRoot%\PCHEALTH\HELPCTR\Binaries
b. helpsvc /svchost netsvcs /regserver /install
c. net start helpsvc
i. Or do the following
ii. Open the Services Management Console
iii. Start the “Help and Support Service”
2) To verify Help and Support is now working
a. Start Menu…Help and Support
b. Or do the following
c. Open Start…Run and type in “winmsd”
