Issue:
You receive the following error when installing Microsoft Cluster Service on Windows Server 2003.
‘Error 0x8007042c: The dependency service or group failed to start’
Cause:
One or more of the services that the Cluster Service depends on is disabled or will not start.
Unfortunately, the Analyzing Configuration page of the installation wizard does not check if these services are disabled, so no prior error is reported.
Solution:
Below are the services that the Cluster Service depends on. Verify that each service is not disabled, and can start successfully.
1) Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
2) Windows Time
